I copied ojdbc5.jar into Lotus/notes/jvm/lib/ext and it seems to connect now...

at least the vague ArrayIndexOutOfBounds exception is gone. Isn't there a way to not have to put the the jars in lotus/notes/jvm/lib/ext? I see where it's recommended to put them there but I am thinking about server upgrades and also the point of bothering to import them into the agent "project". Thank you so much again.

oh, one other question for anybody, I run this agent a few times in a row when it was throwing the exception, then it would bomb with out of memory. I know about recycle() for loops and all but this agent is just doing a simple attempt at a connection, hardly instantiates anything. Does anybody know why it does that?

Actually, maybe it's tied into keeping the jar out in Lotus/notes/jvm/lib/ext rather than instantiating external classes from the agent. Maybe it sucks jvm memory to instantiate jdbc classes when it's stored in the agent.
